My Story

Julia

When I got married I was on the pill. Early on in our marriage my husband expressed his desire to start practicing natural family planning. I said okay to my husband but was desperately scared of getting pregnant. Our journey with natural family planning was hard. I had to search for information and rarely did anyone share their knowledge of this topic with me. Eventually I found an instructor who guided us through the journey. It was a long road of searching for help and not finding it and looking for resources that were not directly obtained.

Your desire to plan naturally should not be this difficult. Modern technology, methods, and devices exist today that didn't when I started my journey.

Getting off of birth control changed my life. It made me look at myself differently and it helped my marriage. Hopefully this site will provide you with the resources for your decision to plan naturally and effectively today.

Andrea's Story

I have been very opposed to contraception for my 14-year marriage because I don't like medicating myself. I used NFP to track my cycle. Didn't have any issues avoiding pregnancy. And when my husband and I decided we were ready to grow our family more we had no trouble conceiving in our late 30's.

I wish more women were able to know that this is a good option, probably a healthier one. I feel like so many women I know are struggling with their health and fertility and I often wonder if the pill is impacting them more negatively than they (or any doctors) know.

Josphine's Story

As I’m sure many can testify, finding the right method or how to chart can be so daunting. When we got married, I honestly had no clue how to chart and figured I would end up being pregnant shortly after. I tried finding resources and was disappointed with the lack of information, I felt very alone and scared. So I just gave up. Fast forward 5 year into our marriage and we had no children. Ends up we had fertility issues and we had no clue. I started researching and talking to different families and started charting with a general knowledge. NFP completely transformed our marriage, because it involved BOTH of us as a team which increases our communication and intimacy! I started to feel completely empowered with this new awareness of my body. NFP truly transforms your heart into surrendering the life-giving gift to God. Most people think of NFP only as a preventative, but in our case when we thought there was no way to conceive except through means of IVF or whatever the OB would push that was against our faith we found NaPro technology.

We then learned how to chart and placed all our trust in the Lord and now we have 3 beautiful children! If I would of found this website 10 years ago it would of saved me many years of heartache. I am so excited for Magenta and think it will help so many!

Christina's Story

My journey with NFP has helped me learn so much about my body and my cycle. We are all uniquely and thoughtfully made, and to embrace our bodies in this way is a beautiful gift. Over the last decade, by utilizing NFP (and my Natural Procreative technology “NaPro” doctor), I have been able to avoid pregnancy; to conceive; and to determine both why I kept miscarrying and why I wasn't getting pregnant when I thought I was timing everything right.

I have what is called secondary infertility. It was not diagnosable right away because I could conceive normally, but - with anyone but a NaPro doctor - my miscarriages weren’t considered “worrisome” until I had more than three. Between 2011 and 2019, I had six miscarriages and three live births (with back to back miscarriages in 2016). Finally, a NaPro doctor determined that I needed progesterone supplements to sustain a pregnancy. My doctor was only able to diagnose this by charting my cycle and having blood drawn on certain days post-ovulation.

Progesterone is not supposed to decrease rapidly after ovulation - if it does it could cause miscarriage. The theory that progesterone can be checked at any time during your cycle is false, and will never help determine if a woman needs progesterone. With the help of steady charting and the advice of my NaPro doctor, over the course of two years we were able to determine that not only did I need progesterone, but also that I had an autoimmune disease. adrenal fatigue and thyroid issues. Taking progesterone shots and working on fixing/decreasing my other health issues helped me conceive those three babies, and carry to term.

More recently, progesterone shots also helped me carry my two youngest boys to term. With both boys I started pre-term contractions and was put on bedrest (at 26 weeks and 32 weeks, respectively). Upping my progesterone helped my levels to rise, and consequently to hold on to the pregnancies and go full term. I feel that I owe charting, NaPro Technology, and my NaPro doctor for the survival of my last three pregnancies, and for my now thriving, healthy babies. I am incredibly grateful for this gift.
